The wide gap between technology and design is often a major problem on many levels. It not only leads to failed projects, poor compromises and a great deal of frustration, but also to extremely limited perspectives among all those involved. One solution is to agree on a common terminology and method. This is where we come in: with the intersection of Flexible Visual Systems and Creative Coding.

In this workshop, we will attempt to bridge this gap for a few hours. Using a simple application developed with Processing for the development of an experimental visual identity, we will explore together what becomes possible when tech and design are on an eye-level. Our workshop challenges conventional design processes by inviting participants to embrace hot intuition over cold analysis. Like life, the approach is iterative, experimental, and, at times, seemingly incomprehensible.

You’ll start with a small, given piece of code and a simple visual system. From there, you’ll learn how each part of the code behaves, how to shape it, and how to push it into something that holds together as a visual identity — one that transforms but stays recognisable.

You’ll work with your own images, project ideas, and motifs. The starter code is shared; what you build on top of it is yours.

By the end, you’ll have a flexible system of your own: a set of rules that can generate countless coherent outputs.

The workshop will be led by Coding Systems: Tim Rodenbröker, MA — an experienced Creative Coding teacher, and Martin Lorenz, PhD — who has been teaching and applying Flexible Visual Systems since 2001.

Alien Assembly: Character design workshop with Eva Cremers

Spend two days inventing a character that’s completely out of this world. Create your own alien, give it personality, style, and a story, and watch it come to life. You’ll learn the entire creative process: from a blank canvas to a finished design, while exploring new tools and workflows. Whether you’re just starting out or already have a few creative miles under your belt, you’ll work at your own pace before we unite everyone’s creations in one massive alien lineup.

This workshop uses Cinema4D. Familiarity with the software is helpful, but no prior experience is necessary.

The Daily FISK #11: The INTL Issue

Create a newspaper to commemorate International Assembly Festival, capturing the people, ideas and moments, big or small, that catch our eye and feel important to document. Join The Daily FISK editorial team for a fast-paced, two-day workshop creating a newspaper, diary and love letter bringing together design, art, food and friendship.

Ask a speaker what keeps them creating, talk to a stranger about what gives their life meaning, review your lunch, overhear something good. Gather stories, quotes, photographs and drawings that capture both the big ideas and the small moments that make the festival memorable.

Working with Bijan Berahimi and Stefano Giustiniani of FISK, we’ll turn this material into the next issue of The Daily FISK, experimenting with layout, typography, imagery and composition. The workshop is all about making bold design at a fast pace, trusting your instincts and finding stories in the everyday, with room for humour, curiosity and your own point of view. Everyone brings something to the paper. Together, we’ll make an artifact to remember INTL 2026 forever.

Type Playground – Type Design workshop with Shamma Buhazza

What happens when type pattern and texture start to overlap and transform each other?

Find out through a two-day experimental type workshop exploring layering type, patterns, lines, textures and colour to create new and unexpected visual languages. The workshop is based on Shamma’s own practice of making letters and numbers through layering patterns, grids and textures to create new forms and languages.

Shamma is interested in how multiple layers come together, how pieces can mesh and mould into each other, and how colour can create illusion. We’ll explore how simple elements can become something new through this process of layering and experimentation.

Together, we will create a shared library of brushes, patterns and textures. You can experiment with your own toolkit, or switch it up by remixing another participant’s toolkit. We’ll explore the friction between analogue and digital by drawing, printing, tracing, scanning, and bringing these elements back into the digital space.

This process of moving back and forth between tools and media, and in reverse, is central to Shamma’s practice and will be an important part of the workshop.

Exploring Unique Shapes by Hand – SIGNOPIC workshop with Patryk Hardziej

If you enjoy designing by hand or wants to explore traditional graphic design techniques and use them in a new, contemporary way, this workshop is for you. An opportunity to slow down, work with your hands, be precise and discover how traditional tools and limitations can help generate fresh ideas and develop your own visual language.

During the two-day workshop, you will explore the techniques used by modernist logo masters to create timeless and distinctive forms. Using these methods, you will design your own SIGNOPIC – an original form combining the simplicity of the logo with the playfulness of the illustration.

The workshop will begin with an introduction to traditional manual techniques and tools used in graphic design back then. Participants will then generate ideas, build simple forms, and develop them through hands-on experimentation. An important part of the process will be customizing and transforming these forms to give them an individual character and adapt them to a contemporary visual language. At the end, we’ll explore how to use this form in a modern way as part of a personal self-brand.

The outcome of the workshop will be a handmade SIGNOPIC – a strong and distinctive symbol connected to the participant’s personal self-brand. The final form can become a starting point for further design work and serve as a basis for a logo, poster, illustration, merchandise, or other elements of an individual visual language.

SCAVENGED NARRATIVES: Poster Design workshop with Vlad Boyko


If you are looking for new or alternative approaches to sourcing visual materials for your creative process, this workshop is for you.


The workshop invites participants to begin a creative process built entirely on borrowing and reusing existing visual material. Rather than drawing or designing from scratch, every visual element will be sourced, scavenged, and recycled. Along the way, we will explore the process of designing a poster, with a particular focus on layout, composition, and the relationship between type and image.
