Workshop Information
The roles tools play in the form and flow of our design work are expansive and complex. From sketching and concepting to executing and crafting, tools dictate how we solve design challenges. If we’re able to interact, edit and create our own tools, new avenues of exploration and experimentation quickly open. In this workshop, we’ll use JavaScript and the p5.js library to create tools for creating static and kinetic graphics and typography. Participants will finish the workshop with a series of exercises and tools they can edit, remix, and craft into their own generators. They will gain access to code and exercises they can continue to experiment with. Beginners will be able to learn from the code while advanced users will be able to extrapolate on the material, pushing it into their own needs and styles.
